The task was to follow instructions about taking a photo and the instructions were written by another student in the class. My instructions were: Choose what you wanna take a pic of. I decided to collect some empty bottles that matched the aesthetic of my dragon and take a photo of that. Take out the device you want to take a picture of. I used the camera on my Iphone 6s Go to the camera app I used the normal camera app Focus on the object I clicked on the screen so it would focus on the dragon Pick an angle I decided to shoot the photo from bellow, pointing up coming from the left slightly Turn flash on (if outside) I was inside so there was no need to turn flash on, but i did use a ring light Take a picture I took multiple pictures and picked my favourite Edit/Add filters I edited the photo on Instagram and PicsArt |
I managed to follow the instructions very easily, but the instructions were quite easy anyway. I also actually quite like the photo I took (after it was edited for the second time). I think the lighting and aesthetic of the picture went quite well. The editing on PicsArt was way better than the original picture and the Instagram edited version, it really gave the picture a great finishing look.

I think it would have been better if i took the picture at the angle it is in the final picture, I had to edit and change the angle quite a bit before I was happy. Also maybe if I had used natural light instead of artificial light. As well as zooming in more than the original. Another thing is I could maybe take pictures of more school friendly objects.

<---- This video will give you a further understanding and it'll go into more detail on why Marcel Duchamp chose the Mona Lisa as the focus of one of his readymades and why the Mona Lisa itself is famous. |
"It starts with me cruising the pages of the individual books and responding to the different images." - Matt Lipps talking about his process.
"Involves creating figurative tableaus from cut paper and cut-out images that Mr. Gordon then photographs."
My response to the questions:
I can see a males face that has been constructed out of multiple different types of media and cuttings from multiple different images. I also have a theory behind what message this piece is trying to put out. I think this piece could maybe, possibly be about identity. When we as humans look at this image we instantly see a man, but the image is very clearly not an actual man, its not even realistic. However we still see it as a man, so i think its trying to say that just because we all look and act different or have different opinions and our different sexualities doesn't make us any less human. We see this piece of art as a man so why can't we see those who are different to us as human as well? I think maybe the artist - Daniel Gordon - has gotten maybe a mannequin head and almost paper mached different images taken from various places and compiled them together almost like a collage to create the look of a person. Some skills he has used is definitely are the skill to paper mache, to cut, to be persistent - the amount of time and effort put into this must have been difficult and he stuck with it - also the skill to envision the bigger picture before it is done. |
For this task we had to take pictures of objects from around your house that you had arranged into a sculpture, and to then edit them too give an intresting affect. These are the results:

Collaborative (Physical) Collage InstructionsYou will need a pair of scissors, a glue stick, a camera phone, a piece of A3 cartridge paper and a magazine (containing interesting photos).
|
<These are the instructions we were given, and we followed them carefully so that we could create our own Collaborative Instruction Collage |
WWW: To be honest nothing really went well. When we first started I was optimistic and it was going quite well, I had all my images and the manipulated versions. The first draft was going good, I still didn't like it very much though and then when we had to swap pieces. The new pieces I received did not work at all with my original idea. Then I had to change it all and it just looked like a mess, but we were running out of time to i just stuck everything down and proceeded with what we were meant to do. So i guess one thing that went well is the fact that I managed to do the task at hand but other than that nothing went well.
|
EBI: It would be even better if I had total creative control and freedom over everything. Like for example: the images used, how we manipulated the images, how many images we had to use, how big we wanted the collage to be and et cetera. Also if i had a longer amount of time to do it because it feels very rushed and random. To be honest I am not happy with the final outcome in the slightest, it doesn't really come together at all, to form a good piece. To be honest it just looks like a bunch of random pictures stuck together, rather than a piece where the different components work well together.

WWW: I managed to somewhat complete the task (using a variety of different photography genres in one single collage and showcasing it in a photograph on my website). Also this collage in comparison to the last one I created is a massive improvement. I am very happy with the final product. The fact that I had complete creative control over what I included, how big the collage was going to be, what aesthetic it would fit, aswell as how I was going to compose it made this work so well.
|
EBI: I showed the process of the collage being created. I would have been 100% satisfied if I hadn't completely forgotten to take pictures of the process. Also if there were no limits. Although working with limits builds imagination and problem solving, I would have liked to include various other photograpy genres within the collage. However I didn't have the resources to do so. So I would have liked to have the opportunity to have incorporated those different asppects into my work.

WWW: I completed the task at hand. I also created images that I quite like and am proud of. They also are quite aestheticly pleasing to look at. This lesson taught me how to fake being in certain places which can come in handy. Also that you don't need to be somewhere to get a beautiful picture of it, which is incredibley helpful for someone like me who absolutely hates and despises going out or going on holiday. EBI: The pictures I could take were limited because I couldn't go wherever I wanted to and as I've said before I rather not work with restrictions and limitations, its off putting even though its a good challenge sometimes. So I defiently could have improved my work if I was able to do that. Also if I were able to get clearer images, these ones a slightly blurred I feel. |
WWW: I completed the task at hand, It looks somewhat decent and I like the colours to some degree I guess.
EBI: It would be even better if I was actually invested in the task. I put zero thought into this project simply because I just could not be bothered in any way shape or form. Which defiently put a strain on my work. Initially I wanted to go with a very obscure theme that would be very unique, however instead I honestly did not have the effort or time to do that, it would be exstremely difficult and time consuming, so I went with park swings, something easy, generic and uninteresting. Leaving me unsatisfied with my work, but it's my fault so I can't complain really. Futhermore I hate the colours, I said I liked them in the WWW section but i more like the vibes it gives off (alt, childhood vibes) rather than the colours. The pictures themselves are also low quality and some are blurry. This is honestly my worst work yet. I hate it. |
